It seems that GW is at least acknowledging the lack of Slaanesh. I can foresee a "return of Slaanesh" campaign in a couple years.


Also, most folks I have talked to about AoS really enjoy the game.

The only thing some people seem to be holding out hope for is that this is some kind of placeholder rule packet and that there will be more fully realized rules coming soon. Even if that were the case this is some really shitty placeholder material that wouldn't breed confidence in whatever "finished" product was coming.

As of now it completely replaces it... There are "warscrolls" which are basically PDFs containing all the units for a given "army".

As someone that’s never followed WFB aside from admiring the models please help me out here; Is this Sigmar thing a stand-alone skirmish game alongside WFB, or does it completely replace WFB?

The models are...Interesting. High quality of course. It seems to me they threw Warhammer Fantasy and the Horus Heresy into a blender, added some ice, and what came out was Age of Sigmar with diluted rules.

Yeah, that's right up there with the stupidest rules I've ever seen. It's basically GW saying "All our players are drunken idiots with a combined IQ less than their combined shoe sizes. They'll love these "rules"."

Apparently GW stores are still letting people play regular games of Fantasy in-store and keep old stock of books and stuff and we'll probably see reprints in like 6 months. This whole thing is a weird experimental clusterfuck.

Simplified rules? Okay, could be fun. Free rules? That's a genuinely cool thing GW did. Free rules for almost every model in the Fantasy range? Even better! A reboot of the Fantasy setting? I can definitely see the need for it and isn't necessarily a bad thing.

The fact that there's literally no balancing factor for the game beyond eyeballing model counts and the numerous rules that require you to dance or scream out actual battlecries for rerolls make me think that this is what will be what kills Fantasy. The rules read more like the joke Magic the Gathering Unhinged/Unglued sets. There were rumors from Harry (I think, someone who actually has some clout) that this would be kind of a splash thing for 6 months but I have no idea if there's any veracity in that.

If they do something similar to 40k, I'll just keep playing 7th ed.
