Newest Apocalypse books, worth buying?

It's dark. It's grim. There's a big eye that's terrorizing. Suck it, Sauron!

Newest Apocalypse books, worth buying?

Postby NobleSavage » Tue May 31, 2016 10:50 am

I play the odd apocalypse game, using a mongrel mix of last edition's Apoc rules and old photocopies of vehicle rules. I muddle through.

Do any of you own either of these newer books? In your opinion, are they worth the money?

The question isn't whether they are worth buying, but are you planning on playing games of Apocalypse.

If you are not planning to play any big games in the near future, don't waste your money.

In general, the books are nice to look at and flip through now and again, but the cost of these books would get you a few plastic kits that would be good forever, instead of just good until the next edition.

I think Jack nailed it and I'll add not only are you going to be playing any big games, but will you be playing with a decent amount of super heavies? That's what Apocalypse is really for. Think Epic. You could play a 4000pt regular 40K game with what you have, but with no super heavies or gargantuan creatures it's just a big game. Do you remember the ride of the many many Tallarn riders into the maw of the Chaos Warhound Titan, Baneblade, and Malcador defender?
