Thunderfire Cannon Base?

Postby Brutal Legend » Wed Apr 02, 2014 11:59 am

I just bought the current TFC. Do you think it should be mounted on a base? The kit didn't come with a base and the majority of pics online don't have the cannon on a base. Some do have a base. Obviously the techmarine has his own 40mm base. I sized it out and on a large base the TFC spills over, so it's not a great fit.

What do you think?

No, there's no base for the cannon. Your Techmarine should have come with a 25mm slotted base, not a 40mm base.

I thought ICs were supposed to be on 40 mm bases?

There's no "IC on a 40mm" rule... every Power armored IC out there that I can think of comes with a 25mm... Pedro, Lamartes, Gabriel Seth, Khan, etc...

Regardless, the Techmarine that comes with the TF Cannon is NOT an IC...

I put my Thudd Gun on a base, but that's just because I'd rather pick it up by that than the model itself and rub off the paint.

By the time my TFC hits the table it will have been gloss varnished and matte varnished so I'm not too worried about the paint rubbing off. So I guess I'm going with no base and a 25mm for the techmarine.

Who do you trust more when it comes to the rules? Brad? Or Ron?

Even varnished models still get wear and tear and can chip. That and I like basing things; it's up to your discretion really.

I like basing too. I'm not saying it will never chip, but I'm very careful with my models. The TFC's footprint is bigger than a dreadnought-sized base. It's much bigger than the old metal thudd gun.
