2017 Paint Tracking Round Up Thread and New Year Link

Postby Thunderjaw » Mon Jan 01, 2018 6:58 pm

Time for the end of 2017 and the start of 2018 and that means another painting thread.

I almost didn't make one of these. There seems to be no point since we don't seem to have much of a community, but I figure that's when we need it to the most. Maybe it'll motivate someone. Maybe it'll motivate me!

So, without further ado, here's how we did this year...

Marc Michaud added into the Paint Tracking Sheet this year and he did so with gusto. Marc didn't track by "assembled and painted but rather by "Completed Models" and he clocked in with a whopping 1282 models. I officially hate him. He was prolific - Flames of War, Armada, Malifaux, Imperial Assault, Age of Sigar, Micro Armor, and other odds and ends including terrain and board games. I'm impressed. Did I mention I hate him?

Second place this season goes to Campbell who once again knocked out a hefty 203 models. Scattered across Black Templars, Ultramarines and his Empire guys, Campell once again had a productive year with outstanding results, as per usual.

Third this year was Dylan, who even with the Bambino still managed to finish off 141 models. Lots of Necromunda, 40k and Terrain was painted. Excellent as always!

Last was me... I sucked this year. A whopping 30 models painted. A decent amount of stuff assembled, but between Excuse A, Excuse B, and Reason C, I really didn't have a good year. Got a lot of Nurgle stuff on the table though, so hopefully I'll get some stuff knocked out and accomplished in 2018.

Folks in the doc but who didn't track anything include the following: Jack, Jon, Kyle, Mason, Matt, and Ron.

As always, link will stay live for a bit longer, but the new document can be found at the following:

Say Brad, could you add a page for me? I'd love to participate, and I'm all fired up and resolved to get back to hobbying this year.

Hells Yeah! Added your page and shared it with you. You should get an email saying "Brad has shared this awesome thing you with you, so don't be a tard." I mean, that's a paraphrase, but it's close. ish.

I've got a metric ass ton of Nurgle stuff I need to work on, but I'm waiting on an order from Dragonforge for resin bases... that guy has the slowest shipping time ever... ordered in November, still not here.

Slowest.
Shipping.
Ever.

Thanks, Brad! I'm off and running. Inna modelling kind of way, of course.

Which, in my case, consists largely of holding a pair of bits, one in one hand, one in the other, and musing... and rotating one bit (say, an arm and hand) a little... and musing... and pressing it into another bit (say, a torso)... and musing.
Followed by more rotating... more rearranging... more musing.
All interspersed with musing...
Culminating in... attaching one bit to the other with glue!!
And then musing...
And then wadding blue stuff together with yellow stuff to make... greenstuff!
Followed, of course, by further musing.

Whee!

This sounds like Ron, but he never moves to the "Attach bits with glue" part...

I'm cautious. I don't like to just up and commit!

For example, it took him a week to commit to this reply.

And 11 days to update my 2018 painting goals, but I did it.
