Kabal of the Slit Throat

Hey all, been working on my DE for awhile now, I have very little painting experience when it comes to any kind of "technique" beyond Slap That Fucking Color On There, but I'm attempting to improve and refine my approach. I've elected to start with some models from the old range because they're ass-ugly and a shitty paintjob will look appropriate. My pace has been glacial up to this point, but I'm starting to feel like I'm getting my head around this adding-water-to-paint, working-in-layers bullshit.

My photography isn't doing them any favors, if the weather stops sucking maybe I can get some natural light on these hoes

They are coming along nicely. Good job. Are you doing your army with only old models, or are you going to mix some of the new models in there as well?

Most of the stuff I have right now is new, I just had some wyches, warriors, incubi, and a couple HQ models from ancient times sitting around so I thought they'd make good test subjects. Ill get to the new models and vehicles soon I hope.

Nice start! I like the dark sea-green colors.

I'm a fan. Thats a superb shade of green.

The skin tone on the wyches is nice as well.

Yay, Dark Eldar.

Sea Green

Seconded. These look fantastic and I really like the color choices as well. The slightly "rust" color of the bases compliments the blue/green color of the armor nicely.

More pics of the Wyches, finally finished them. My yen for painting was like nonexistent for a couple months, work being a real Bych sometimes.

Can't seem to make the lighting look NOT piss-yellow so if anyone has any suggestions on that front...

I think they look great. The yellow is caused by your lights-you don't actually have white lights and the white balance on your camera is probably a bit off. This can be fixed fairly easily by either adjusting the color output of the image or by going an playing with the curves to pull the white up a bit.

That said, the images and models look great. I played a bit with one to get it up to snuff so to say, but it isn't far off of where you had it. Keep posting!

At this point I take my pictures outside, on cloudy days. Works just as well as any fancy-pants indoor lighting system.

And speaking of fancy-pants, I like the Wych a lot. She looks mean, and nasty, and kinda sexy.

I'd fuck her.

consumer light bulbs are yellow or blue if they are Fluorescent most likely they are green.

if you put a large sheet of white behind the model the camera will see it as white and then, hopefully using the Auto White Balance make it white in the photo.
