And I'm stoked to see what you can do with Corax!

Me too. That's a sexy mini.

The Primarch project continues:

After a nice washing I needed to trim flash, mold lines, and the gate channels and look for inconsistencies. Happily there were not many problems with the model. But on Corax's body you can see where the mold has broken down around his dick and just above his left knee is a weird hole that needs to be filled.

The thing that has me the most worried are the weird wings that adorn Corax's jumppack. These things are barely thicker than paper - and I can see problems occurring really easily.

The base is sort of weird too. The decorative base can't be assembled unless you plan to keep the model in there forever... So I will need to assemble it carefully so I am able to match it up. Everything about this model screams, "Measure thrice and clip once!"

Below is the trial assembly of the base.

This picture is when I finally got everything put together into subassemblies. The painting process is going to be really weird. My plan is to start with bases first, then the traitor body, followed by Corax's head, then Corax's body and following up with the jump pack and pinions last. We will see if the plan makes it past contact with the enemy...

Looking good Jack. What legion will you be painting the traitor body?

I have been trying to figure that out for weeks... For a time I was thinking about making it a Word Bearer because I was thinking about making a 30K Word Bearers force based around some Gal Vorbak models. But after assembling all my Raven Guard I need a major break from Marines. So I thought maybe Alpha Legion because of the whole "Deliverance Lost" thing or World Eaters because they were hunting the survivors on Istvann...

So I haven't really decided yet...

I think Alpha legion could bring some much needed color to the base. With a black armored figure I think WE would be too black and white.

Alpha Legion might be good for the color aspects, grey base, black armor, overall grimness... A splash of reptilian green might be great!

I used Vallejo black surface primer to brush on a coat of primer. Next step to double check the pinions for another thin coat if needed and get ready to paint up the bases.

Exciting to see the Primarch taking shape!

I'm interested to hear why you're using a brush-applied primer. Does it work better in some way?

It sure does stink more! PU! But really, after using it I find it leaves s thinning coat than a spray. Plus, I am a huge over sprayer. It is embarrassing, after all these years to admit, but I just point and spray that shit everywhere.

I just didn't want to make an error of such proportions on such an important model.

Here is a photo of the base. I will need to get a look at it in better lighting before I decide if I am finished with it... But until then, I think I might move on to the traitor legionnaire. I like the Alpha Legion idea so I can add a splash of color to the base.

Intimidating model. The base looks really good.

Traitor legionnaire mostly finished. Just need to paint his weapons and attach them to his hands, then I can attach the model to the base.

Once that if finished I need to make some color decisions about Corax.

I like the paint job on the marine.

I don't understand the story that cork base is trying to tell, though.

You are right, Ron. I swapped out my alchoholic base for this little gem.

At some point I will have Corax crashing down and blasting this guy into dust... You know... Eventually.
