Magnets

I need magnets. I went to the K&J magnet website and there is a damn shitload of them. What do you typically use (size/tickness) and for what use? Are the very thin ones significantly less potent?

No, not really.

I have used K&J in the past and have been very happy with the quality and price, especially for modeling needs -- two 1/4" x 1/8" hold the enire body (plus arms) of a carnifex to the legs.
Any young lads around here interested in some high adventure!

Magnet strength increases linearly with surface area, but square root of thickness, so go for wider rather than deeper. That being said most of the time you are restricted to a very small shoulder joint or something, which limits how big you can go.

I usually get the tiniest ones they have, which work for Marine-sized models.
