2nd List - Space Wolves 150PL

Thoughts: There are no wolves on Fenris, but there will be some on your side of the table if everything goes right. :)

Again, tossed stuff in till I was "happy". Added up the PL and came to 139 so I added a couple of small things to bring it to 150. I really like this point size... and playing at home means I don't have to be quite as cognizant of time constraints as I would have at the Eagles, so the list can go a little bigger. Without further ado, here's the list.

Space Wolves - 150/150PL

HQ1 - Ragnar Blackmane (9)
HQ2 - Wolf Priest in Terminator Armor (8)
HQ3 - Rune Priest (6)
HQ4 - Arjac Rockfist (7)
TR1 - 10 Bloodclaws w/ Wolf Guard (10)
TR2 - 5 Grey Hunters (6)
TR3 - 5 Grey Hunters (6)
EL1 - Lukas the Trickster (6)
EL2 - 5 Wolf Scout Snipers (4)
EL3 - 5 Wulfen (13)
EL4 - Lone Wolf Terminator (7)
FL1 - Stormwolf (14)
HV1 - Long Fangs (8)
HV2 - Long Fangs (8)
HV3 - Long Fangs w/ Wolf Guard Terminator (11)
HV4 - Land Raider Crusader (17)
DT1 - Razorback (5)
DT2 - Razorback (5)

Breakdown:
HQ - 4
Troops - 3
Elites - 4
Fast - 0
Heavy - 4
Fliers - 1
Lords - 0

Command: 7
Base - 3
Battalion Detachment +3
Spearhead Detachment +3

Thoughts: A much more elite force than the Death Guard with a lot more toys. This list has elements that sit back, elements that move forward and elements that flank. It also has some absolutely brutally killy things in it. The 6" bubbles that characters provide these days will be used to good effect between the Bloodclaws and the Wulfen. If I can slam both units home at the same time they'll get the following:

Ragnar - Reroll charges and 1's to hit (including pistols in combat)
Rune Priest - Tempest's Wrath -1 to hit one unit (Wulfen)
Wolf Priest - Reroll all misses in Fight Phase and can heal units
Lukas - +1 to hit for the Blood Claws and -1LD for the enemy.
Wulfen - They grant +1 attack to other Space Wolves!
Arjac - reroll WOUND rolls of 1.

Lots of power, but I feel like they're going to get swamped in hordes. If they do, they'll at least go down like heroes and the sagas will carry them to immortality.

It's going to take some getting used to seeing 4 HQ and 4 Elites with 3 Troops. I'd really have to see how it plays. I do like the different force org charts that grant different benefits, but it's still odd to see. I'm planning the one with more heavies for my Imperial Fists so we'll see how that goes.

It does look like this list will fuck up elite armies but good, but yes, I'm not sure that you have enough attacks/shots to take on a horde army.

The Space Wolves "Grimnar Book" (can't remember what it was called) was REALLY elite heavy. I think the standard detachment in there was like 1 Troop 3 Elites or something silly. Wolves have always had a history of lots of HQ/Elites choices going back to the days when Wolf HQ's only took up half a slot (so 2 for 1 in a standard force org). I think the last list I played was a Bjorn list with Bjorn, 3 Dreads, some Wolf Guard and Lone Wolves (8 or so Elites...) I think I had one Grey Hunter Squad. :)

I'd really like to see how this fares against a shooting list... I just have this vision of Campbell's VanHalens wiping the Land Raider and Stormwolf off the table on turn one and everything else having to hoof it across a killing ground of pew pew laserfire.

Then I have a vision of it hitting his lines and his entire army goes poof.

But it'll probably be the first result. Probably.
