Dark Angels Greenwing

Postby stormboy » Thu Feb 07, 2013 10:32 am

So I am putting together a force based primarily off the Dark Vengeance kits I have and adding the minimum amount to make an army. Here goes.

Company Master 90
Artificer Armor 20
Combiplasma 10
Conversion Field 15
Monster Slayer of Caliban 45
Total 180

Interrogator Chaplain 110
Plasma Pistol 15
Total 125

Troops
Tactical Squad 1(10 models) 70 + 70
Veteran Sergeant 10
Chainsword free
Plasma Pistol 15
Meltabombs 5
Plasma Gun 15
Plasma Cannon 15
Total 200

Tactical Squad2 (10 models) 70 + 70
Veteran Sergeant 10
Chainsword free
Plasma Pistol 15
Meltabombs 5
Plasma Gun 15
Plasma Cannon 15
Total 200

Elites
Deathwing Terminator Squad (6 Terminator) 220 + 44
Chainfist x2 10
Assault Cannon 20
Total 294

Fast Attack
Ravenwing Attack Squadron (6 bikes) 80 + 81
Plasmagun x2 30
One Chainsword free
Veteran Sergeant 10
Meltabombs 5
Total 206

Command Squad (5 guys) 100
Apothecary 15
Champion 15
Standard Bearer (Standard of Devestation) 65
Twin Lightning claws 30
Thunder hammer/ stormshield 45
Meltabombs 25

Army Total 1500

I have no idea how this will play, honestly. The Terminators will come in on the bikes turn 1 or 2, (I really need to get a couple more terminators to make a hammer squad of ten...) The Chappy and the command squad will try to challenge the big enemies while the troops stay near the banner to turn their boltguns into Salvo 2/4 weapons and gun everything apart and hold objectives.

This army currently has a minimal investment in models, but next year I hope to recreate a Deathwing (when I have more income and less time). I only had to buy a Command Squad Box and a DA veterans box.

Problems I foresee - no way to deal with flyers - too plasma heavy with no other special weapons - Bikes and termies will get left in isolation - Too many points tied up in wargear to make a 1500 point list.

Thoughts?

I agree that when you have the models you should vary the heavy and special weapons. For anti-air what about a Nephalim Fighter?

With my personal feelings about plasma weapons, that is a lot of 'kill your own guys'.

That's something the Dark Angels need to think long and hard about. They want to purge the heretic but they end up purging themselves sometimes. Of course, they are the DARK Angels.

Dark Angels made the plasma so cheap - it would be silly not to take a few. I may be able to work up a few missile launchers as Devastators, because I have so many extra marine weapon sprues... that would give me some anti vehicle and some anti-flyer with Flakk missiles.

Hmmm.

My thoughts:

I don't like plasma pistols - clip those off and get bolt pistols
Trade one of your plasma cannon's away for a missile launcher, give it flakk missiles and combat squad it away to be a bit of anti-flyer

Why not Azreal? I can't see a build where he doesn't kick ass - I know this is buying something else, but I think TJ's had him for $7 a while ago. If not, just convert one of your mdoels. This would make the bikes and terminators troops and make one of the tac squads have a 4+ invulnerable save.

Run some of your arbites as scouts - DA scouts are AWESOME this edition. Sniper rifle with flakk missiles and camo cloaks is killer

I have an Azrael I could part with if you need/want him. Metal of course and stripped of paint.

And I'm coming to the eagle to play bloodbowl tonight.

Why do people use the term Greenwing? Isn't that just called Dark Angels?

IDK, but when I saw the post I thought it was gonna be some link to a Vegan Dark Angles satire or something.

Because regular DA guys feel left out when the other groups get special names.

Regular guys have feelings too.

It makes them sound like n00bs.

I would adopt another name.

Unless you're running Ravenwing who ride in bikes fueled by vegetable oil and constructed from renewable resources, Greenwing isn't happening.

maybe he's hoping Deval and Obama will pour tons of government funds into his army only to have no real return on investment.

Ian, please keep political comments in the off topic section. This area is for tactics, battle reports, and army list disussions. I don't want to lock this thread.

He was referring to Inquisitor Deval and Inquisitor Obama.

Try to keep up with the fluff...
