Kickstarting a Regional Gaming Con?

Postby Drool_bucket » Tue Mar 25, 2014 12:16 pm

For anyone who the word hasn't gotten too, check out this Kickstarter project!

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ne ... 4?ref=live

basically its a small group of guys trying to get a large-ish Con up and running through "pre-registrations" using KS. Interesting idea, if you have any intent on going you should pledge in some amount.

The Malifaux content will be available over the three days of the con from July 25-27. However the beauty of this con is that for one price you get into the entire weekend and there are going to be tables and space for the following games.

* 40k
* Dropzone Commander
* Malifaux
* Warmachine/Hordes
* X-Wing

There will be organized and open play spaces available for all of this. Now I know the Eagles has a great gaming environment, one of the best I've found in the region. Now consider that same feel of Eagles over a three day weekend? I'd love to see a strong showing of DorkaMorka shirts showing how to game in style :)

Regardless if you want to see a game, system, or event at the con let the organizers know via the comments or info@captaincon.com

One note, while I'm vocal about this event I have little affiliation with it beyond bringing Malifaux to it and being a pledger myself.

Hope to see some (all) of you there.

There isn't much time for this. How are they planning on getting the tables up and running in time? This is an absolute shitload of terrain to make in a matter of 2 months for multiple gaming systems. The logistics seem a bit wonky. Are they using the Templecon terrain?

They are terrain guys from what I gather , they have tons and stores are helping. For malifaux. I'm coordinating that. With that said I highly suggest you ask that question on the KS page. If you're curious others ma be too. Great concern but I'm really confident they're going to deliver based on their experience both with the New England Team tournament (this is their 8th year) and all of their TempleCon success.

I'll look for your question and their response on the KS comments.

Before leaving for Adepticon Mike Marhsall and I sat down for a recording of his short-format podcast. We talk about CaptainCon and how we are working hard to get a healthy and strong Malifaux presence at the con and around New England.

Show notes and links below, Enjoy!!!

In which Mike talks to Adam (@pfalcon83) about his involvement with CaptainCon and building the Malifaux scene in the New England area.

Just want to remind everyone that even though the KS is over and it successfully funded (well over with a good amount of stretch goals), that you can still get your tickets here:

Remember there are tons of games going on here. A lot of 40k, Infinity, X-Wing, and of course Malifaux. Hope to see all of you find DorkaMorkas and associates a like there.
