You are talking about the Descent style game, right? (opposed to Armada...)

I do not care for one vs many games, which this firmly is.

I have heard good things about it, that it is Descent 2 event further cleaned up with a new skin attached. FFG makes great games and this is another.

The only negative I have heard is that the rules might be "too tight" in the sense that that games are razor thin one way or the other, and a lot of the winning/losing comes from the Game Master player's skill. A good game master wins most games, a weak one loses most of the time.

I am tempted to hear about the skirmish game rules, but like any game that basically has two factions, I lose interest pretty quickly.

This... basically if FFG produces it, my natural assumption is I'll enjoy it.

I make the same assumption about porn from the Czech Republic...

Yeah people go on about the Philippines but if I ever get the chance for a sex tourism trip I'm going to the CR.

And to the point of the topic, this looks pretty cool. I'm a fan of the Descent games so this certainly has my interest.

I have heard good things about as well. Check it out on Boardgamegeek.com. It has a really good rating (8.50 out of 10).

My local group and I played the campaign for ~6 hours straight a couple weekends ago (with me as the Imperial player) - it's a lot of fun, and the only reason we stopped playing was because we ran out of time in our day. Agree with some of the points above, about how it's razor thin on the margins, but if you approach the campaign as "let's have the most fun possible", then you can (as the empire) skew the results (by focusing, or not focusing fire, impeding the win conditions, and so forth). Of course, that will all go out the window in the finale, where kid gloves will be fully off.

the progression system is pretty good - gives a lot more feeling and emotional buy-in to your characters, as opposed to a straight dungeon crawler, and it's nice to see the Empire able to progress, too. Sure, there's still plenty of randomness, thanks to dice, but win or lose (excluding the final mission), the story progresses.

Also: the look on their faces when you pull out the AT-ST is priceless.

We have not played the skirmish at all, and don't really intend to. the main box has only one or two skirmish scenarios, with the rest being in the expansions. Interesting sales strat for the expansions: you truly dont need them to play the campaign: each expansion comes with missions that replace other missions in the main box (not directly, but the campaign is only so long) - and of course, comes with plenty of Skirmish stuff, and nice minis. But the strength in the expansions is replay on the main game: injecting new missions means you can play this awesome game again, and at least half the campaign will be different (and perhaps more, depending on how things go in game). We're looking forward to replay, and i'll swap out and take on a rebel character next time.

I definitely recommend it for SW fans and Descent fans.

When playing the Imperial did you use any of the following phrases?

-"Good, our first catch of the day"
-"You rebel scum "said in a completely overacting manner
-I'm altering the deal. Pray I don't alter it any further"
-"No disintegrations"
"Jesus, I'm high maintenance" - NobleSavage

ha.

I've found that's an occupational hazard of playing any Star Wars-themed game--board, card, minis, RPG--the quotes come so fast and furious, you might not finish the game.
